Propylene Glycol (Pharmaceutical Grade) has been classified as "Generally Recognized As Safe (GRAS)" by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for pharmaceuticals as an excipient and food and cosmetic additives.
Our picglobal Propylne Glycol USP/EP (PG USP/EP) is a high purity product manufactured under KFDA approver, which meets all the requirements of the current United States, European Pharmacopeias and various other regulations/standards for pharmaceutical, food and cosmetic additives.
This product is a viscous, clear liquid with a weak characteristic odor, and has a faintly sweet taste. PG with functional group of diol has multiple properties of being antimicrobial, hygroscopic and having very low volatility. In particular, it is soluble with a broad range of solvents and water.
Applications
The typical application and feature of PG USP is as below.
1. Pharmaceutical : Non-toxic solvent for active ingredient in the formulation
2. Food : Hygroscopic additive and solvent for colors, emulsifiers, antioxidants,humectants and stabilizers. Animal food but not cat, and also applied to indirect contact food applications
3. Cosmetic : Soluble solvent, coupling agent, emulsion stabilizer, humectant for skin/sun care(INCI name : propylene glycol, EU E-no 490)
4.Personal care : Solvent, carrier, softening agent, viscosity modifier for shampoo, bath products, toothpastes, shaving products and baby care
5. Flavor : Non-toxic extraction solvent for food, beverages
