Desciption
Dipropylene Glycol(DPG) Fragrance Grade(FG) is a co product from the manufacture of monopropylene glycol by hydrolysis of Propylene Oxide(PO) with excess water without any solvents,catalysts and additives. This product is clear, practically odorless, colorless, water soluble, hygroscopic and nontoxic syrup-type liquid with slight sweet and bitter taste, safe, moisturizing and low volatile properties.It has a class of alcohols that contains two hydroxyl groups called diols, so it is used as a coupling agent and humectant in a variety of cosmetics and fragrance because of its antiseptic, hygroscopic and low volatile properties.
Applications
The typical applications and features of DPG FG are as below.
1. Personal Care : Skin care products (creams, lotions, sun-care, soap bases),Hair care products (shampoos, conditioners, coloring products) Bath products, deodorants, antiperspirants.
2. Fragrance & Cosmetics
- Ability to attach to the fragrance molecules and make them slower to disperse
- Excellent fragrance carrier and solvent
- Good co-solvency with water, soap bases, oils, and hydrocarbons
- Designated as safe for use in cosmetic products under the guideline as below
